The sailing of the route that spans the vast Strait of Georgia docks in Port of Nanaimo in the North End of the Gulf Islands. This location is a short hop to two mountain passes that connect Port Alberni to Tofino and Ucluelet. The fishing grounds of Tofino and Ucluelet are teaming with wild Coho, Halibut and trophy sized Ling Cod. Campbell River is where you can land King Salmon and surf the same day. Strathcona Provincal Park with its rivers and mountains and who can forget the royal ambiance of Victoria.

Marine Drive winds its way through the coastline and connects West Vancouver to Horseshoe Bay and  has majestic beauty. On any given Sunday, the bicylists make claim to its recreational opportunities which include numerous waterfornt parks and sea-to-sky vistas. When you arrive in Horsehoe bay, you are charmed by its simple architecutre and historic marina where the mountains rise up the sea. Numerous shops and restaurants abound. The photos don’t lie – this is a must on your bucket list.

It is the one year anniversary since Hubby delivered the Airstream from Southern California and what a ride it has taken us on.  From the Northern American coastline to tens of mountain passes — from ski resorts at -4 degrees to the Eastern deserts in the hot 90’s.  Hobnobbing with Rock Stars as well as wicking and wacking it with ski and golf bums.  All had one theme in common – spending those moments in safety and luxury thanks to our beloved Airstream.

We would like to give a big thank you to all of our loyal followers, friends and sponsors who have literally made this dream possible.

As many of you already know, Airstream has published the photographs from our travels in their 2012 sales brochure.  Here is a slide show from our highlight reel of photos that are in the new brochure:

We love to fish — especially fly fishing.  There is just something about this sport that is so intuitive and well, relaxing.   The environment is quiet, peaceful and you can think here.  You can relax here.  Suncadia/Tumble Creek is where we spent our day.

Crutches and all, it was an incredible day of fishing along the Yakima river.  I should also note that the wild blackberries were everywhere.  They were ripe for the picking and soooo sweet.

It was a beautiful, sunny day.

An Airstream Fishing Trip

After our day of fishing it was time for dinner — fresh caught salmon that we had from our amazing Tofino fishing trip with Lance.  It has been marinating all day and I just knew it was going to be amazing.

While I was grilling the salmon I thought to also grill 1/2 a head of romaine picked fresh from the Roslyn farmers market. Amazing and simple just grilled with some olive oil and sea salt.  Finish it with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar.   Why does everything taste so good when we are on our Airstream trips?  I tell you, my Airstream’s small space kitchen is my lucky charm. xoxo

When you cross the border from the United States into Canada, everything feels different, instantly.  The people, the culture, the landscapes.  It feels as if you have been transported to a European country.  I hope that if you haven’t had the opportunity to visit this beautiful city, that you will be able to someday.

There is so much to do and see in this amazing city and the way we like to discover our surroundings is to hit the pavement and start exploring, on foot.  We start our exploration by crossing the Lions Gate suspension bridge.  The Lions Gate Bridge connects the North Shore to the downtown area of Vancouver.

As we head towards the end of the bridge we have sweeping views of the sea walk at Stanley Park. Stanley Park is Vancouver’s urban Park and is a nature lover’s paradise with miles upon miles of trails, beaches, sea life, playgrounds, etc…

On our way out of Stanley Park, we arrive in downtown Vancouver and decide to stop at “The Boathouse,” which is a great seafood grill and pub located along the edge of English Bay.  Hubby was hungry so a fish and chips were in order . . .

This is an incredible city with so much to explore.  I truly hope that you if you do have the opportunity to visit that you will enjoy yourself as much as we did.

My camera goes everywhere with me — especially on our Airstream trips.  Sometimes I feel uncomfortable carrying around a camera bag that just screams, “There is an expensive camera in this bag.”  I wanted something more discreet and not so obvious yet stylish at the same time.  I scoured the Internet trying to find an alternative.  I wanted something that could carry all of my equipment as well as my personal belongings so I didn’t have to haul my purse along too.  No luck, at least, nothing I liked was out there.

Then I started thinking about diaper bags.  Most of them come with pockets galore (perfect for lenses, etc.) and some of them can be rather stylish as well.   I found this diaper bag and just fell in love.  Doesn’t look like a diaper bag, does it?  Or even a camera bag for that matter.  The only problem was that the bag was not padded — but it did come with a diaper changing pad.

Here we are in Roslyn, Washington.  Our last “Quarter Mile” exploration was on beautiful Orcas Island located within the San Juan Islands.  The quarter mile of Orcas Island beach front is very different and yet the same as any other quarter mile in America.

Wherever you are I encourage you to take a part of your day to discover just a quarter mile around you and see the beauty it holds.  On this particular morning we headed out on foot to discover our surroundings in sweet Roslyn.

Along our way we discovered more historical “sheds” that were built in the 1800’s by the coal miners who inhabited this town.  I imagine that they were actual households back then, but it is on my list to confirm that.  Many of the modern day homes built here have these sheds in their original spots on the properties.

Downtown Roslyn is full of quaint little boutiques, a museum and delicious places to dine.

On our way back to our Airstream we pass spacious pastures with beautiful horses.  We are absolutely in love with this town.
