Peshtamal Towels For RVing via J5MM.com // RVing Lifestyle Airstream Style

Over the last few years blogging here on J5MM I have gratefully received emails from fellow readers asking my opinion of what I think would work best in an RV from kitchen essentials to outdoor living essentials and everything in between.

A couple of weeks ago I received the sweetest email from Holly C.  She was curious as to what towels I have onboard and after I told her, she encouraged me to share it on J5MM.  So I am and thank you Holly ❤ The timing of her email to me was uncanny as I had literally just placed an order for three Turkish Peshtamal towels.  It was this article (and the comments) that convinced me they would be the perfect replacement for my big, fluffy terry cloth towels.  Because big fluffy towels are oh so comfy and luxurious but when your on the road and every square inch matters, you end up looking for an alternate solution.

I immediately started searching Etsy for a Peshtamal seller and low and behold I found him.  His name is Demet and lives in Turkey and ships to the USA ( here is his shop if you’re interested ).

If you have never heard of a Peshtamal before, they are super light weight, thin and extremely absorbent. They are big in size (typically 70 by 40 inches), but are very compact.  Unlike a thick terrycloth towel, Peshtamals are flat-woven with a smooth, soft texture of 100% Turkish cotton.  They also dry more quickly after use, so they don’t take on a musty smell.

Also, as you know, multi purpose items are so beneficial when RVing and that’s where I really think these towels shine.  They are perfect for everyday use out of the shower and I can totally see them being used as a sarong on the beach, a picnic blanket or a picnic table cloth. The possibilities are endless!  They also take up a tiny amount of space in the RV closet and you can roll one up easily and tuck it into your day pack for your outdoor adventures.

One question I had upon receiving my towels was how to care for them.  I learned that gentle laundering is best. Machine wash in warm or cold water with like colors and tumble dry on low (or line dry).  Say no to bleach, harsh detergents, dryer sheets or high heat. I also learned from Demet that Pestemals get better with use and some need to be “broken in” by washing and drying them in a dryer on medium heat a few times. This make them softer and more absorbent.  Mine you see below have been washed and tumbled dried once to break them in and they are very lovely.

I am quite pleased with my towels and if you’re looking for the perfect towels to take along on your RVing adventures, you may also like the Peshtamal as well.

Carrot Soup for the Soul via J5MM.com // Airstream Kitchen

“How much longer daddy?  Can you see Disney World? Can you see it???”

As a little girl, a child of of the 70’s, sitting in the backseat of my parents big brown Pontiac Le Mans, it was a guarantee that these questions of mine were routinely asked at precise intervals throughout entire road trips. This particular road trip was taking us from Dayton, Ohio to Florida – home to Walt Disney World.  It was the summer of 1976. Fab Finds Tuesday via J5MM.com

Today is a big day :)  I’ve opened my very first ever Etsy Shop here:  www.etsy.com/shop/Just5MoreMinutes.  Inside my shop you will find some silversmithed travel inspired accessories I have crafted inspired from travels in my Airstream.  I hope you swing on by and have a look :)

As I was updating my shop for the very first time, I became side tracked by some of the cutest things from other Etsy sellers!  I can’t help but share them with you. But first, one of my most favorite things to have in my silver kitchen is an Odor Absorbing Splatter Screen.  It saves on cleanup and keeps the splatters at bay which I think is especially important in a tiny cooking space . . . .

  1. Odor Absorbing Splatter Screen — invaluable in a tiny space when shallow frying.  Find it here
  2. Is this not just about the cutest pot holder ever?  I will be adding it to my collection, no question.  Find it here
  3. Temporary tattoos are popular nowadays but these are superiorly artistically beautiful.  They have a very glamping foresty feel to them . . . find this cute fox Here
  4. I can see this hanging from an Airstream awning strung with white lights and the color scheme is quite perfect.  Find this fun bunting here

And last but not least, here are a few photos I took of some of the silver items in my shop which would be lovely for the glamper in your life.

  1. I have hearted this sweatshirt for so long and especially now even more so since winter glamping is right around the corner.  Maybe I will put it on my wish list for Santa this year — I especially love the red color here
  2. I’ve got a serious love for icebox cake.  So simple to make and this “Pumpkin Mouse” version would be perfect after a hearty Thanksgiving dinner.  Find it here
  3. Yesterday while perusing the isles at Trader Joes, my coat belt loop snagged a display of these little cinnamon scented hand broom/whisks.  The entire display came crashing down and I was so embarrassed.  I am sure my face was as red as an over ripe heirloom tomato!  Luckily there was a mom with her two sweet kids who, after seeing my embarrassment, were gently coaxed to come over and help me pick up the bazillion little whisks strewn all over the floor.  It was then when the two kids remembered these whisks and happily reminded their mom about them.  “Mommy!  It’s the cinnamon whisks!  Remember?!”  Needless to say I was intrigued by their excitement, so for $1.00 I bought one.  I opened the package in the car and it smelled just like the holidays — cinnamon!  I can’t wait to hang it in the Airstream.  After reading this blog post about the whisks I’m thinking I would love a broom too!
  4. If you’re a winter glamper, flannel sheets in your RV/trailer are-a-must.  When nighttime falls and the outdoors are super chilly, there is no better feeling than crawling into your warm soft bed made so by flannel sheets.  To compliment the winter glamping experience, I think these sheets would be perfect :) Find this cute set here

Three more days till Friday!

Thank you for being here ~

When we took our silver girl into the local Airstream dealership to have some warranty work done, I spied this cute canine collar and leash set in the store.  Looking up online, I also discovered this super cute ornament — perfect for the upcoming holiday season for you — or the glamper in your life // Ornament, Collar and Leash :)
  2. Keep your eye out on this Seattle artist — Katie Marks.  I heart her and her beautiful work.  This mug is only the first in my collection // from Silver Lining Ceramics
  3. Cast iron skillet Mac and Cheese?  Say no more! // Recipe by:  Spoon Fork Bacon
  4. There is no link for this one — oh how I tried to find one — but get in the car now and drive to your nearest Target (or call first) and pick up a pair of these super soft “Pink Flamingos On Ice,” glamping jammies for the chilly weather ahead // By Nick and Nora

An Airstream Travel Blog // Fab Finds Tuesday via J5MM.com

  1. Glamping fashion at its finest — add this darling fleece neck warmer by Skida to your winter fashion repertoire. With a gentle reminder of summer flowers inspired by Monet, it will surely brighten up any winter day.
  2. I’ll be making this warm skillet bread and artichoke spinach dip this winter.  No question.  It not only seems as if it would be time saving but also an incredibly delicious appetizer or dinner even — served up with a salad.  Find the beautiful recipe here
  3. This is my new perfect coffee making vessel called the Chemex.  I love it for its versatility in multi-use from a coffee maker to start, to a flower vase and lastly, a wine decanter anymore?  Plus it’s beautiful . . .
  4. I can never stop obsessing over cute cutlery for my trailer.  Thanks Anthropologie for this new release.  Gold dots or black ones.  Your choice and oh so lovely!

SOCK1

These socks.

They have my heart.

Sounds kind of corny, but oh how I love them.

I love them !!

I’m not big on fashion socks — the last time I bought a cute pair such as these was a very long time ago.  10 years maybe?   Back when I was into my clog phase (which I seem to be reentering as of late) . . .

But if you, my sweet reader of J5MM love FUN socks — love CUTE socks — want to give a unique gift to the Glamper in your life?  Christmas stocking stuffer perhaps?  Go now and buy these !!  I bought mine at my local Nordstroms – but you can also buy them online here.  They are by the company called Hot Sox.

They even have a camping/fishing version too — here :)

Peace & Love,
