This wasn’t where I meant to be this weekend.  I meant to be at home dusting off my workbench in order to begin working on some new jewelry designs for my Etsy shop.  But rather, sweet friends of ours phoned us up and invited us to come and visit with them at their cozy cabin in the woods near Crystal Mountain.  Needless to say, a trip to the cabin propelled the idea of silversmithing to the curb-and I was very okay with that.  I was, as a matter of fact, in need of a snow fix and boy, did Miss Mother Nature deliver ♥

After a long  walk through the snowy woods, I tucked Oliver into a cozy blanket on the sofa to help warm him up while I pondered what to prepare for dinner.  I’m not sure if you feel the same, but I take great pleasure from cooking a wholesome meal in a new kitchen — a new space.  It’s one of my favorite things to do in any new place we visit.

. . . and after a day spent outdoors and supper in the oven, Oliver and I sat down to ponder over a few things while we waited for the boys to return back down from the mountain.

First and foremost,  I could absolutely, no question at all — happily live in this cute little cabin, forever.  These thoughts come to me when I find peaceful places I visit — that I just want to stay in that moment and be there forever.  For example, I absolutely wouldn’t mind living in the Airstream forever, and living on the boat forever and living in the San Juan Islands forever and living in my Suncadia condo forever, or my other cabin in the woods, forever.  One extreme to another I say, but roll it all up in a nutshell and I have a glorious life with all of these options just waiting for me.  For us.  For my little family and let me say just one thing, options like these are wonderful (and make no mistake, this girl is grateful, deeply grateful right down to her core).

Speaking of my Airstream:  I MISS MY HER.  Terribly.  Even though she sits in our driveway at home, I miss hitching her up and towing her all over this glorious country of ours.  But thankfully we have a trip coming up in a short while that will cure this dreadful aluminum fever I have been suffering from.

Blogging.  Hard to believe I have been blogging here on J5MM for seven years now and with Go RVing going into my third year!
I was wondering, if you wouldn’t mind, helping me out?  Here is my question for YOU! ::

“What would you like to see me blog about in 2017 (for GoRVing and even here on J5MM)?”
Go RVing has asked me to deliver up some recipe ideas as well as blog topics–four recipes and four blog posts.

Can you help me?

Because, quite frankly, I’m stuck and have run out of ideas. I need some INSPIRATION and who better than to ask but YOU!

Oh and before I forget, if you didn’t know that I blog for GoRVing you can see all my posts I have ever done for them here:

Thank you for being here,

  1. I could live forever in a little cabin like that! We have a travel trailer that we’ve only taken out for a few days here and there. We’ve done a lot of camping beside lakes while my sweetheart fishes and he has taken the trailer to Eastern Oregon for about a week of deer hunting (without me). Until recently we’ve been caring for my dear, little mother and now we are free to begin to be retired and travel more than for a few days at a time. We are at the Oregon Coast for a week and I realize we don’t know how to live in our trailer for more than a few days here and there. We have plans to travel for longer times and then return home for awhile before we go again. I have read your blog from beginning to end and love everything you’ve shared. I’ve gleaned many tips on organizing and living in your Airstream but would love to have more ideas, recipes and tips about how to live tiny.

    • Adrienne, I am so very sorry to read about the loss of your sweet mother — I am sending you my deepest condolences ♥

Your words mean so much to me and I appreciate you reaching out with your suggestion about wanting to learn more about living tiny. I hope you enjoyed your time along the Oregon coast. It’s so beautiful there!

    • Monica – I love reading your blog! Please, take your talents on the road (work sabbatical?) and go RV through Europe. I would love to see the different countries through your photos and hear about your travel experiences. I would bet there are many babyboomer soon-to-be retirees, GenX travel addicts (like me), and Millennial quality-of-life fans who would love to do this, but don’t have the time to figure out how to navigate all of the arrangements that would need to be made. You can be the pioneer for us. : )

  2. Hi Monica, I have missed you! Hope all is well! , I think ppl would love to know how you go about camping in your Airstream during the cold winter months. I think you have touched on the subject here before. I think a lot of ppl want to camp in the colder weather, but just don’t know how to safely go about it

Hope you have a wonderful New Year!

    Love,
    Patty

    • Great idea! We are actually going to be towing the Airstream to Cyrstal Mountain soon so I may just do a write up about winter glamping while we are there. Thanks Patty!

  3. What a lovely post- Monica. I always gaze at your photos and think you do such a fabulous job of photographing, processing, and posting. Photography tips and techniques would be great. Of course I love your Airstream posts, and your recommendations of places to stay and things to do, are some of my favorites. Ex. your trip to Potlatch, etc. really was wonderful and helpful. And of course, your cooking posts always inspire me. And, I love seeing your photos of the family, and of all the activities that you share…it is a story that I could read over and over again. Be well and happy. Thank you for all of your work and sharing what you love…it shows!

  4. I love the photography and would like more info. I started following you because of my Airstream addiction and loved what you were able to do in your kitchen. so many folks don’t have or use the oven!. The jewelry making could also be discussed more.I’m always looking for crafts/rainy day activities that aren’t tv. Beginning small space jewelry shop? Inspired by nature?

    • Ah jewelry design on the road — GREAT idea! I can’t even believe how inspired I am reading all of these comments — I am so glad I asked!! Thank you for reaching out with your ideas ♥

  5. I get so wrapped up in my daily self-imposed routine of commute-work-commute-vegetate that I sometimes forget there is a beautiful world out there. Your posts and incredible pictures wake me up, and for that I am thankful! xo

  6. I agree with the other commenters about your photography. I love your pictures, I look at them again and again and they transport me to the places your capture. Our family just bought a pop up to go on adventures with 2 kiddos. I’d love some photography and photo processing tips to help capture our memories.

    • I will definitely add photography tips to my list — thank you for reaching out and congrats on your pop up! Wishing you happy travels in 2017 ♥♥♥

  7. Dear Monica, I love it when you let us know your new additions to the Airstream. Also the gadgets that make your kitchen the fabulous place it is! I always love to try your recipes. So even if it seems like the same ole’ to you, your fans love to hear what things you are trying and what fabulous food you are preparing! Keep it up and I look forward to seeing more! A toast to you, (with smashed garlic, rosemary and olives!)

    • I second all of the previous comments, particularly in regards to your photography. And another idea for a post could be as simple as day to day living in the Airstream. You have two “boys” – how to keep them and yourself organized, dealing with wet or dirty shoes, keep things tidy while an a camping trip, making up your little man’s bed at night, types of bedding, etc. etc. etc.

      • Thank you Holly — these are great suggestions that I will definitely incorporate. The wet and dirty shoes are a huge issue and I will definitely share how i deal with that. As a matter of fact, that was one of the first dilemma’s I tackled when we starting RVing. THANK YOU ♥

    • Sandi, sweet girl! So good to see you here — alrighty then, I will continue on with my tiny kitchen finds and recipes — thank you for inspiring me and showering me with your kind words. Always lifts me up ♥

  8. That cabin!! :) :) :0
